Candy Gunawan is a storyteller and travel designer at the intersection of gastronomy, culture, and adventure.
Born and raised in Indonesia, her journey has taken her from the wind-swept kitchens of New Zealand to the vineyards of France, shaping a narrative rooted in craftsmanship, curiosity, and connection.
An Advanced Open Water scuba diver, she is equally at home beneath the surface of the sea as she is at a long lunch table — believing that the most memorable stories unfold when we immerse ourselves fully in a place.
With a background in Culinary Arts and Business from Le Cordon Bleu New Zealand, a Master’s in Wine Innovation and Tourism studied across Spain, France, and Portugal, and a WSET Level 3 certification in Wine, Candy combines technical expertise with a creative eye for storytelling. Her experiences span culinary arts, branding, event management, and digital marketing — blending these worlds to craft narratives that engage both the senses and the imagination.
Today, Candy designs immersive travel experiences shaped by flavour and sense of place. From behind-the-scenes kitchen visits, private vineyard encounters, and conversations with artisans, coastal hikes, and curated diving journeys, her itineraries go beyond sightseeing to invite genuine cultural exchange. Each journey is tailored with intention — balancing structure with spontaneity, elegance with authenticity, and discovery with rest.
Kisah Table is her personal canvas. Part journal, part travel notebook— a space to share essays, reflections, and photographs inspired by journeys across cultures.
Through her writing and her journeys, Candy invites readers and travellers alike to slow down, to savour detail, and to discover that the richest destinations are not only found on a map, but at the meeting point of food, wine, adventure, and human connection.
